Shamma bint Mohammed and Muhammad bin Ham are two candidates for the Mandela Prize
The United Nations, with its headquarters in New York, has invited the Arab Creators Union, in its capacity as a consultative member of its Economic and Social Council, to nominate leading personalities in humanitarian work for the Nelson Mandela 2020 award Launched by the United Nations five years ago. The award was awarded for the first time in 2015 to former Portuguese President George Fernando and Dr. Helena Ndomi, an ophthalmologist from Namibia The Federation decided to nominate Dr. Majdi Yaqoub, the master of medicine in the world, nicknamed the King of Hearts from Egypt, Sheikha Shamma bint Muhammad Al Nahyan, from the Emirates and Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Ham Al-Amri Ahmed Nour, president of the Union of Arab Journalists and Arab Creators, says: This award is given once every five years to figures who have a stake in community service, volunteerism and humanitarian service, where the winners choose a United Nations committee, headed by the President of the General Assembly. The name of the winner is expected to be announced in May 2020. The award ceremony will be held at United Nations Headquarters in New York, during the celebration of the International Day of Nelson Mandela on July 18, 2020
